The Way of Kings is an intimidating book. It’s enormous, it throws you into a world that initially seems determined not to explain itself, and it asks for a pretty serious commitment before you know whether any of this is going to pay off.

For the final stretch, Roshar stopped existing as words on a page. Battles played out like a film behind my eyes, and putting the book down meant consciously leaving that world behind.
